Sometimes, using the Windows Service-Update, you may not be able to complete the installation of updates, the causes could be due to some failed attempt to upgrade the operating system by preventing the proper functioning of the Windows Update service. The problem is easily overcome by following a small procedure that we analyze in the course of the tutorial.

1. Press the Windows key + R and type services.msc (alternatively portiamoci Start menu / Run), confirming the command with Enter. 2. In the list of active services, we find the entry for Windows Update and then right click the mouse. From the pulldown menu that appears click on Stop. (Alternatively click the right button, select Properties / Stop). 3. We then create a new folder in C: \ Windows, which we will call VecchiAggiornamenti. Inside, we move all the files in C: \ Windows \ SoftwareDistribution, directories, then eventually be empty. 4. This done, restart the Windows Update from the Start menu / All Programs and check for new updates by clicking Check for Updates. | ||

| 5. Everything should work correctly. If not, you can always resort to good old System Restore using a date prior to the problem. | ||
